Prepare the ingredients.
In a large bowl, combine the shredded chicken, diced avocado, chopped lettuce, red onion, and cilantro. -
Make the dressing.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the lemon juice, olive oil, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). -
Toss the salad.
Pour the dressing over the salad and gently toss to coat, being careful not to mash the avocado. -
Serve.
Plate immediately for the best texture, or refrigerate for 10–15 minutes before serving if you prefer it chilled.
